The Elim Publishing History PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Randy Johnson and his family were missionaries in the small, war-torn country of Bosnia Herzegovina in 2002. He and his wife Coral watched the leaders in the new, struggling church painstakingly photocopy old books to use as teaching materials because there were no new ones in their language.

Randy, having a technical background, decided to take advantage of a new, breakthrough technology called digital-on-demand publishing. Elim Publishing (EP) was started when a topical concordance of the Bible was translated into Bosnian and published. The Johnsons got excited thinking about the enormous possibilities digital publishing had for impacting not only the Bosnian church but similar emerging churches worldwide.

At home in America, Randy and Coral met with Pastor Mike Cavanaugh of Elim Gospel Church, Lima, NY. It quickly became apparent to all three that this was no chance meeting because the Lord had already been speaking to Pastor Cavanaugh for several months about publishing. He too saw the potential impact of this new technology for growing ministries both at home and abroad. And so in 2003 with Pastor Cavanaugh's encouragement and generous support, Elim Publishing was born with Randy and Coral as co-directors of the ministry.

Today we are providing many Christian books in a growing number of small language countries, and producing English discipleship materials for numerous ministries. By utilizing Internet technology, EP has no geographical boundaries. We can efficiently pull team members from many countries into a project simply by e-mailing manuscripts from an author to an editor, to a layout and design person, and finally to a printer to produce the best work for the least cost. Most projects are coordinated from the Lima, NY, headquarters, but the potential for offices being placed in other countries definitely exists.

Today, by continuing to stay on the cutting edge of technology, we are reaching our goal of providing discipleship resources for the emerging church worldwide for Christ.
